Ringo Starr’s son Zak Starkey found himself in a feud over accusations against Pete Townshend.
Last week, the drummer shared a video of Townshend performing live and wrote in the caption:
“Never seen Pete sing without a guitar before he looks pretty f*cking cool doin’ it.”
Still, Starkey faced backlash from people on the platform under the comment section due to sex offender accusations against the Who guitarist. Zak first responded to these criticisms in the comments and then shared his research about Pete as a video, in a now-deleted post.
Zak Responded To The Backlash
Here is one of Starkey’s replies to a commenter:
“No, he’s not. You misinformed Littke knt. Check on Google and also google ‘A Different Bomb’ by Pete Townshend published a year before peyes bust… It is about policing the internet and what people/kids can see on there with no censorship. Pete informed the Child Protection Agency of what he was going to do before he put his cc in the site … do u really think PT would put his credit card with his bloody name on it into a pedophile website!!”
The musician continued:
“He was proving what was available to anyone. Cops took 17 of his computers and they were all clean – he was on the register coz there is a zero tolerance and Pete accepted the caution… You don’t know sh*t – read ‘A Different Bomb’ and come back to me with your thoughts … and could you tell me how u came to write this comment seeing as u know fuk all about any of it ? Obviously a headline is enough to make u believe anything – and to sell lots of newspapers – do yr f*cking research.”
Starkey also shared another response to criticisms against him:
“There was no downloaded child pornography on all 17 of Pete’s computers taken by the cops – he put his cc in the website only – do yr f*ckin research – u mivering little git.”
Why Do People Criticize Townshend?
In 2002, Pete wrote an essay named ‘A Different Bomb,’ on his website about seeing child abuse images online and trying to tell authorities. But then he got arrested in 2003 for using his credit card on a website with child abuse images. He was on a list for five years because of it.
In a chat with The Independent last year, Townshend admitted he made a mistake but believes he did the right thing. He said he never looked at those pictures of kids but was actually trying to help stop it. The rocker also revealed that the incident negatively affected his reputation, but he and his wife know the truth.
