Mark Tornillo previously said the US was no longer the capital of metal. He shared the countries which had stronger passion for the genre in a recent chat with ‘Metal Pilgrim.’ The singer spoke of the Latin American audience as follows:
“They’re rabid! They’re rabid for metal! It’s crazy. They really are. I mean, it’s a whole different ball game you know? The amount of noise that they can make and generate in the audience is just insane. But there are certain other countries like that as well.”
He continued:
“I remember playing in Ukraine, and that was a great audience! A killer audience! Unfortunately, now we can’t [go to Ukraine]. So… But yeah, South America, Latin America, they take it to another level. They really do.”
The Singer Wants To Tour The States
Tornillo mentioned his concerns for the metal scene in the US during a March interview with ‘The Metal Voice.’ He noted that Accept had no sold-out shows in the country and explained:
“No trouble selling tickets in South America. No trouble selling tickets in Europe or anywhere else. So, I think the United States is just not metal territory anymore. I don’t know why.”
The host then revealed that Adrian Vandenberg had similar thoughts but was still planning a full US tour due to strong reactions to his latest trek. So, the Accept frontman said:
“Let’s hope so. I hope they prove me wrong. I mean, I would love nothing better than to tour the US every year, but we’ll see how it plays out.”
The band will keep touring Latin America in May to support their album, ‘Humanoid,’ and will move on to Europe in early June.
