In a recent interview on ‘The Rich Shertenlieb Show,’ Zakk Wylde talked about why he decided to tour with the reformed version of Pantera and whether or not they had the new music talk.
“No, we haven’t talked about anything like that… That’s up to the fellas,” Wylde said of the possibility of making new music with the band. “Whatever they want to do. ‘Cause, like I said, me and Charlie, we’re basically just allied forces and they’re brothers. So it’s just, whatever the guys want to do right now. But as far as right now, I think we’re gonna be — we’re just rolling right now. After this [run of shows], I think we go out in February, over in Europe. Six weeks over in Europe.”
All members have different opinions on making new music as Pantera. One of the two remaining original members, Rex Brown, says he is open to make new music. However, there is a catch. “Oh, absolutely. Yeah, I could tell you more but I’m not going to,” said the bassist in an interview with AndrewHaug.
Drummer Charlie Benante added in another interview: “Yeah. We talked about that. We’ll see. We record a lot, and it’s probably just spending time with it and seeing what shows are good or taking a song from this show or a song from that show and compiling it for a live record. I would love to do that.”
Wylde also added earlier that the band was too busy to focus on making new music. So no matter what the band members think, it’s still unclear what Phil Anselmo would say about it.
