Yellowstone’s final episodes are here, and after six years and five seasons there are several cast members now facing a future without the characters that they have portrayed on Paramount+’s huge hit. One of those is Wes Bentley, who plays Jamie Dutton in the series. The actor recently reflected on the one “dreaded” thing he is not going to miss about filming the show – getting beat up.
The success of Yellowstone is something that has been unparalleled for Paramount, with the flagship series being just one arm of Taylor Sheridan’s constantly expanding universe of shows. As well as spin-offs such as 1923, 1883, and the upcoming The Madison, Sheridan also has Landman, Tulsa King, and more keeping him extremely busy. Somehow, though, he has made all the shows released so far massive successes, and as long as that continues, there will always be another series on the way.
For Yellowstone, despite rumors of a possible sixth season, it seems that the end has come, and Bentley reflected on what he will and won’t miss about filming in an interview with TheShockNews. He said:
“It’s been a lot of things playing Jamie. There are things to miss and not miss. I won’t miss the weight of Jamie when this is over one day, and I won’t miss the dreaded scenes where I get beat up. But I also will miss those scenes because I’ve enjoyed working with this cast and on this show. It’s been a really special experience, but it’s TV, so you never know if it’s over when it’s over, or if it’s over too soon.”
Wes Bentley Says Yellowstone’s Finale Was Not Kept Secret…for Him at Least
There are many shows that have their endings spoiled before they air, but the filming of Yellowstone’s finale was reportedly a very secretive affair with even some of the actors not being aware of exactly how the final episodes would play out. Bentley explained that as far as he knows, this was not entirely true, but there were some people kept in the dark. He said:
“Well, I knew everything. [laughs] I don’t know who didn’t know. I feel bad saying that, but I know that the most difficult thing was the crew didn’t know. I mean, they literally didn’t know anything sometimes, and that’s challenging because they’re really like family, and they’ve been there since the beginning. So it felt deceitful to not share in that experience with them, but I also understand where it was coming from. We’re in the internet age and trying to keep everything tight — because, like I said, I’m a TV fan, and I don’t want any spoilers. But I did get to know everything, and that made my job easier.”
