Rivers Cuomo is open to a rock collaboration with Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus.
Cuomo reflected on calling Swift one of his ‘musical heroes’ in a recent chat for NME’s ‘Does Rock N’ Roll Kill Braincells?’ series. When the outlet asked if his words triggered a possible collaboration with the pop singer, he shared:
“No, we’ve never talked about that. That never occurred to me. If she ever wants to make a rock album, I’d love to help out! I have a feeling that I would get the call from Miley Cyrus first though! [Laughs] That would be very cool.”
Cuomo And Swift’s Past Team-Up
Cuomo and Swift worked together in an ad for the ‘Band Hero’ video game in 2009. The two recreated Tom Cruise’s dance scene from ‘Risky Business’ along with Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Blink-182’s Travis Barker. The Weezer vocalist said of the experience:
“I was a teenager when the movie ‘Risky Business’ came out, so the scene of Tom Cruise dancing in his underwear was iconic and influential for my generation, so to be able to recreate it with a handful of other huge stars was a huge honor.”
He added:
“Taylor Swift was so gracious and everyone fell in love with her when she came in the room and started talking to us. She was just like a natural-born leader.”
Weezer’s Upcoming Tour Plans
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Weezer’s self-titled debut album. The band celebrated the event with a UK and Ireland tour this June. The Smashing Pumpkins supported them during the latest shows.
Now, Weezer is set to kick off their ‘Voyage To The Blue Planet’ North American tour in September 2024. They will play their debut album in full for the upcoming dates that will include some rare tracks and special guests.
The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr. will be the opening acts.
