Mötley Crüe recently appeared on the ‘Busted Open Podcast’ to talk about their latest track ‘Dogs of War’ and their upcoming album. Vince Neil commented on the band’s inner dynamics during the chat and shared his thoughts about John 5’s addition to the lineup. The singer said:
“We just love each other. Of course, there are times like with brothers. You get spats and stuff, and you’re pissed off for a day or something, but you come back and these are the guys that I love. I’ve known these guys longer than anybody I’ve known on earth, except for my sister.”
His words continued:
“And when John – I just met John not too long ago. When we started the band ‘cause these guys are going, ‘What about John 5 for guitar player?’ I go, ‘Who’s John 5?’ Then, I did research and stuff and I go, ‘Wow! This guy’s badass, and he fits right in this brotherhood that we have.”
John 5 joined Mötley Crüe after Mick Mars retired from touring due to ongoing health issues in 2022.
Band Members Are Happy With Their New Bandmate
The new guitarist entered the studio with Mötley Crüe in early 2023 and co-wrote ‘Dogs of War.’ He also worked on ‘The Dirt’ soundtrack with the others in 2019 and performed several shows with the band.
Tommy Lee commented on working with John 5 in a recent chat with Spin:
“You know what? If you were to go up to him and go, ‘Dude, play me bluegrass meets classical,’ he would literally go, ‘Okay.’ A rock guitarist would never know how to play that. He can play f*cking anything, and it’s scary. He’s from another dimension.”
He added:
“To me, at the end of the day, you can be the most incredible, influential, talented person on the planet, but if you’re an asshole, none of it matters. He is, hands down, the nicest man I know. He is such a f*cking sweetheart. I mean, we’re in heaven. We just laugh the whole time and just groove on how f*cking rad it is we get to all play together. It’s wild.”
Mötley Crüe will hit the road again with John 5 this summer. Their first stop will be Summerfest on June 21.
