A new international trailer for this year’s third and final Venom outing, Venom: The Last Dance, has revealed our first look at a new, green symbiote. While the footage has now been removed (you can check out an image of the mysterious emerald extraterrestrial below), fans have quickly taken to social media to debate which of the many varieties of symbiote it is. While some think it’s Stephen Graham’s character Patrick Mulligan and his alter ego Toxin, others believe it could be our first look at Lasher, who traditionally is greenish in color.
“Can Sony not make every Symbiote with big Crocodile teeth?! Lasher doesn’t even have a mouth!!! First you give Carnage that look with the teeth now Lasher?! Not every Symbiote has to be a Color palette switch for The Venom Symbiote,” says disgruntled fan @PandemoniumPj, with @EnefSea taking issue with the approach to the franchise saying, “Venom 1: Venom fights a darker version of himself. “Venom 2: Venom fights a darker version of himself. “Venom 3: Venom fights a darker version of himself. Sony is so damn creative.” You can check out some more reactions to this mysterious green symbiote below…
Those who believe this new symbiote is Toxin also think they’ve worked out why the symbiote has changed from being red-and-blue in appearance to green. “What if they made Toxin green because Sony thought it made more sense because toxic waste is green,” asks @SuperDaltron, while @_TheSmartAlec1 thinks they’ve found more clues in earlier footage, “Btw I’m 99% certain this is Toxin and not Lasher because Pat’s eyes turned green in the trailer, so if that’s the case, something something massacred my boy.”
While it’s looking highly likely that this new symbiote will be Toxin, with the studio making changes to the character to best fit them into their so far Spider-Man-less Spider-Man Universe, it is also rumored that Venom: The Last Dance will feature multiple other symbiotes. So, Lasher fans could still see their dreams come true on the big screen…
