Venom: The Last Dance director Kelly Marcel has offered a cryptic tease regarding the future of the Sony/Marvel franchise, declaring that “there are lots of symbiote stories” still to be told beyond the adventure of Eddie Brock and his alien pal. During an appearance at New York Comic Con, the filmmaker, who makes her feature film debut with Venom 3, also teased that there will be much more to come from the supervillain Knull, the god of darkness and creator of the symbiotes. Check out what Marcel had to say about the future of Venom below (via Variety).
“This is just the introduction to Knull. He’s a massive, massive character so you can never be one-and-done with him. This is just a little taster of Knull. We get to meet him. What the future holds for him, who knows. The plot for Eddie and Venom closes here. But as you know, there are lots of symbiote stories in the canon. There are lots of places to go, and maybe there are a few Easter eggs in here that might start that journey off.”
Following the success of the first Venom back in 2018 (which brought in a monstrous $856 million at the worldwide box office) and its sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021, Venom: The Last Dance will wrap up the Tom Hardy-fronted trilogy. Directed by Kelly Marcel, the comic book movie sequel stars Hardy alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham, and finds Eddie and Venom on the run.
“In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”
Tom Hardy Says Goodbye to Venom
Tom Hardy was also on stage at the event, and big farewell to the Venom character and franchise, saying he has “loved” playing the iconic Marvel villain-turned-antihero.
“It’s been 7 years doing this, it’s like I started the day 7 years ago & now it’s night time, it’s time to go to sleep…. I’ve absolutely loved playing Eddie and Venom”

Venom 3 Gets Promising Early Reaction From Renowned Marvel Artist
Ryan Stegman, the co-creator behind Marvel villain Knull, has revealed what he thought of Venom: The Last Dance.
Hardy confirmed, to the disappointment of many, that Venom 3 would be his last movie earlier this month, saying “That’s all she wrote for me and the big guy we promise to make this the best of them all. We’ve loved making these. Thankyou for your ️and support – come join us for the Last Dance. For those of you that enjoy a good time from all of us in the team – Let us entertain you.” However, while this may be the end of the main series, it is possible that the actor could return as the character again thanks to the wonders of the cinematic multiverse. Whatever happens with Hardy, it certainly sounds like Venom: The Last Dance will not be the last hurrah for the symbiotes.
