In an interview with PTI, Agarwal mentioned the group is trying to begin manufacturing semiconductors at Dholera in Gujarat in 2-3 years.

“We are going to begin with $5 billion (almost Rs. 41,400 crore) funding and scale it up as years go by,” he mentioned.

The semiconductors shall be manufactured in three way partnership with Taiwanese electronics firm Foxconn. Vedanta holds a 63 p.c curiosity and the remaining is with Foxconn within the three way partnership.

The corporate plans to initially produce 40,000 wafers a month.
