NFL star and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is best known for his impressive skills on the field, and for being the boyfriend of pop superstar Taylor Swift. Now it looks like he wants to be known for something else; a career as a Hollywood star. Kelce is in talks to lead an action-comedy titled Loose Cannons at Lionsgate. This would see the sportsman swap the football field for the cinema screen, and it is perhaps not surprising as Kelce has expressed his desire to explore new horizons in the industry before.
Loose Cannons is being produced by Chad Stahelski, best known as the director of the John Wick franchise, through his 87Eleven Entertainment banner. Stahelski is joined by producers Jason Spitz and Alex Young. The script for the movie is penned by Tim Dowling, known for his work on Pixels, This Means War, and Knight and Day. With such a strong team behind the projects, expectations are high.
The plot of Loose Cannons, as described by The Hollywood Reporter, revolves around two unhinged cops who are paired together in an effort to straighten them both out after their precincts merge due to budget cuts. The movie, which will be in the same vein as buddy-cop classics like Lethal Weapon, Bad Boys and Rush Hour, promises to be a blend of action and comedy. While specific details about the characters are still under the wraps, it sounds like the movie could be a perfect fit for Kelce’s charming personality.
Travis Kelce Is Already Confirmed To Make His Debut On Television
Apart from his 12 successful seasons in the NFL, Travis Kelce is also popular for hosting his podcast, “New Heights,” with his brother, Jason Kelce, a recently retired Philadelphia Eagles player. The podcast covers a range of topics, from personal anecdotes to football insights, and has a massive following because it allows fans to connect with Kelce on a personal level.
While Loose Cannons will mark Kelce’s feature film debut, he has already signed on for a couple of other projects. He is set to appear in Ryan Murphy’s FX series Grotesquerie, where he plays a mysterious supporting role. The series, which premieres on September 25, centers around a series of unsettling crimes in a small community, and Detective Lois Tryon, who feels a jarring connection to these crimes.
In addition to his acting roles, Kelce will host the game Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? this fall. This new version aims to bring a fresh twist to the classic format, with celebrities competing against each other by helping their respective contestants in various challenges.
There has been no word on when Loose Cannons may get filming underway, but if Kelce is involved, it will likely not be until his NFL commitments allow it.
