As Tracker readies for a return with Season 2 this fall, the show has shared several first-look images ahead of its premiere, offering fans a peek at the characters. The hit TV series, starring Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, has become one of the most anticipated titles of the year, especially after its promising first season gave us such a welcome, old-school television experience. Check out the new images from Tracker Season 2 below.
The newly revealed images from CBS depict a variety of characters from the second season, including Colter Shaw, who appears to be busy tracking down fresh leads in rising cases. Other characters featured in the images include Abby McEnany’s Velma Bruin and Fiona Rene’s Reenie Greene, who both hold cell phones, most likely hinting at a crucial conversation at both ends.
The first look images notably lack the presence of Robin Weigert, who played Teddi Bruin, Abby’s wife in the first season of Tracker. The reason being that the CBS series suffered a major setback following Season 1, with the departure of one of the show’s regulars, Weigert, who will not reprise her role. Certainly, this has startled many fans, given her significant role as Shaw’s handler in Season 1. Robin Weigert’s absence will be felt throughout the following season, since her acting talents are not something Tracker fans will forget. Neither CBS nor 20th Television has addressed why Weigert has quit the series, but on the bright side, Jensen Ackles is confirmed to return in the second episode of Tracker Season 2.
CBS Has Teased Tracker’s Next Mystery
While we have yet to see an official teaser for Tracker Season 2, CBS has released the official description for the first episode of the next season, “Out of the Past.” While it won’t necessarily provide a clear indication of where the next season is heading as a whole, knowing what Colter Shaw’s latest mystery is more than enough for now.
“While investigating the strange disappearance of a missing family whose car was found abandoned on the side of the road in the backwoods of Arkansas, Colter makes a shocking discovery about the mother’s past that leads him into the world of organized crime. Also, Reenie opens up her new law firm and enlists Velma’s help in setting up shop.”
As previously stated, Jensen Ackles’ Russell Shaw will appear in the second episode, but depending on his role in the story, he may stick around for the entire season. Perhaps we’ll get a step closer to solving the mystery of Ashton Shaw’s death, especially after the reconciliation of Russell and Colter in the first season.
Tracker, created by Ben H. Winters, is based on Jeffrey Deaver’s 2019 novel The Never Game. The first season premiered on February 11, 2024, with episodes airing weekly until May. With the second season barely a month away from its premiere, viewers are eager to see the next mystery unfold.
