Rush’s Music Evolved Over The Years
In their early years, Rush showed hard rock or proto-metal tendencies. They began leaning towards progressive rock with their third album, ‘Caress of Steel.’ However, even into the ’80s, they maintained heavy elements. Then, in the ’90s, they returned to a heavier sound.
Rush’s debut album drew heavy inspiration from Led Zeppelin. However, the band’s direction started to shift with their sophomore album. They introduced complex musical figures and time signatures. Genesis’ ‘Nursery Cryme’ played a role in shaping Rush’s sound.
