Mötley Crüe has released a new EP titled ‘Cancelled,’ featuring a new track with the same name.
The EP includes three songs: the title track, ‘Dogs Of War,’ and a cover of the Beastie Boys classic ‘Fight For Your Right (To Party!).’ The cover was first performed during a secret show at London’s Underworld in 2023, where the band played under the name ‘Dögs Of War.’
Last year, drummer Tommy Lee explained the idea behind the song ‘Cancelled’ during an interview on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast.
“There was this article that was like, ‘How did Motley Crue ever not get cancelled?’ And we were like, ‘F*ck, we’ve gotta write a song about that because we didn’t ever get it,’” the rocker explained how they decided to write the song. He also recalled getting away with murder. “We snuck in under the whatever threshold, wherever that was, where we got away with f*cking murder,” he added.
Earlier this year, ‘Dogs Of War’ was released as a single. It was the band’s first new music since 2015.
In other news, Mötley Crüe is finishing Höllywood Takeöver tonight at the Whisky A Go Go.
Although the Höllywood Takeöver was meant to be a return to basics, Mötley Crüe still played their usual set of hits at the Troubadour. The 16-song lineup featured classics like ‘Primal Scream,’ ‘Shout at the Devil,’ and ‘Kickstart My Heart,’ alongside the new tracks.
