In a new interview with Eddie Trunk, RATM guitarist Tom Morello addressed the ‘RATM is done for good’ rumors.
“If there is ever any news about Rage Against The Machine, you will hear from all four members of Rage Against The Machine. Period,” he said during the chat when asked if the band was done. “I said if there is any news ever about Rage Against The Machine, you will not hear from one person, Tom Morello on the Eddie Trunk Show, you will hear it from the four guys of the band.”
When Trunk insisted he talked about it more, Morello finished with, “Anytime you wanna go to the next question.”
The band’s bassist Tim Commerford agrees with the guitarist. “I don’t know. I don’t get involved in that. I’m the bass player. I just wait for someone to tell me what to do,” he said when asked about the matter in an interview with Rolling Stone. “Brad said what he said, but he’s one step above me. He’s in the No. 3 spot. I am the low man on the totem pole. That’s all I can tell you. I’m the bass player. The bass players always are the last people to find out about sh*t like that.”
Even though both Morello and Commerford confirmed that he would make the announcements all together with the rest of the band, drummer Brad Wilk stated earlier on social media that RATM would not play live ever again.
“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new dates for all the canceled RATM shows. I don’t want to string people or myself along any further. So, while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom, and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was,” the drummer wrote.
Morello also said earlier that he wasn’t sure about the future of RATM. He mentioned to Spin that the band is not active at the moment, though he, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk have often worked together.
