Rolling Stone’s list of the greatest guitarists of all time is out, and Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello seems to have beaten Eric Clapton and David Gilmour.
“While these lists are inherently subjective and everyone (including myself) feels they need some reshuffling,” the guitarist shared his thoughts in a recent Instagram post, “still it’s nice to be mentioned.”
“Yes it is,” former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach responded to the guitarist. “Congrats to you.”
Unsurprisingly, TheShockNews received a great amount of hate.
“No Joe Satriani, No Steve Vai, No Yngwie, No Paul Gilbert, No Buckethead, No Eric Johnson?? Alrighty then!!” a user commented on Morello’s post. “Where’s Alex Lifeson in this list? Rush’s virtuoses musicians are always forgotten. Congrats, Tom. You’re amazing,” another added.
One user thought TheShockNews was ‘too mainstream’: “I mean… subjectively, this list is terrible. At the very least, it should be titled ‘greatest guitarists of mostly mainstream, popular music of all time.’ The number of guitarists missing from this list, that absolutely obliterate others on this list, is… I mean, it’s incomprehensibly large.”
The entire list consists of 250 different guitarists, and Andy Summers takes the last place.
