Last month, Aerosmith announced they were done with touring after Steven Tyler got injured on stage and won’t fully recover.
During a show in September 2023, Tyler fractured his larynx while the band was gearing up to finish their farewell tour. He managed to finish the show after falling onto a railing early on, but it became clear that doing a long tour with a lot of songs wasn’t possible anymore.
The bassist made it clear in earlier interviews that Tyler was working hard to get ready to go back on stage. However, it appears that they are not sure about the band’s future.
“He has been healing well and working his ass off to get ready to go back out on the road but it just wasn’t possible,” Hamilton praised his bandmate in a different interview. “We don’t know what the future holds but it won’t include touring.”
“There’s been no talk at all about going on the road with another singer. I can’t imagine it,” he also admitted.
The band announced the bad news on August 2, saying Tyler’s voice hasn’t fully recovered, so they had to make the choice to stop performing. Before Tyler decided to retire, his bandmate Steve Perry mentioned that Tyler might have some new tracks ready to go. Unless the vocals for these songs are finished, it’s unlikely Aerosmith will record or release any new material.
