Dany Lambesis, wife of Tim Lambesis, has released a statement addressing rumors that the As I Lay Dying singer had abused her.
After deactivating her account on October 25 and later making it private, Dany’s Instagram is now public again. Some posts from earlier in the week have been deleted, and in her latest post, she denied the ‘unfounded rumors’ claiming her husband had abused her, calling them ‘completely false.’
“It has come to my attention that false claims have been made, suggesting that my husband has harmed me,” Dany wrote. “I want to make it unequivocally clear that these allegations are completely false. My husband has never caused harm to me in this manner, and I am deeply saddened by the unfounded rumors that have emerged during this challenging time for his band. There has never been an incident that warrants such accusations. We have had our relationship issues like many other couples, but nothing to the degree of domestic violence or what is being portrayed online.”
“It deeply saddens me that I find myself in a position where I must publicly explain my personal life and relationship because of flat out lies. It is completely unjust that everything spread the way it did and nobody even considered my voice to be heard through it all. This is unfair to both Tim and I and our relationship,” she continued. Dany finished her statement by saying that she wanted to be respected. “It is disheartening to witness how quickly misinformation can spread and the impact it can have on individuals and families. I ask that you respect our privacy during this time and refrain from perpetuating these harmful rumors any further.”
In February 2014, Lambesis pleaded guilty to hiring a hitman to kill his wife. This came after he had told two people at a Southern California gym the year before that he wanted to ‘get rid of her.’ At that time, Lambesis was already going through a divorce that his wife Meggan had started in 2012.
The supposed hitman turned out to be an undercover police officer. Although Lambesis initially pleaded not guilty, he was released on a $2 million bond after paying $160,000 to a bail bondsman. He served two and a half years in prison under house arrest.
Though Lambesis later stated that he was ‘entirely to blame,’ the rumors surfaced once again after the recent chaos in the band. Three members and a team member left As I Lay Dying, and even different rockers jokingly stated they were leaving the band too.
On October 25, guitarist Phil Sgrosso stated that he would release a statement on the situation ‘shortly.’ Ryan Neff was the first to leave, stating that ‘after much reflection,’ leaving the band ‘is the right step for my personal and professional journey.’
Ken Susi mentioned that his ‘personal morals’ were ‘tested to a breaking point.’ Shortly after Susi’s exit, Nick Pierce also left. He said that it was ‘far from being the ending I anticipated’ and that he needed to distance himself from the band.
As I Lay Dying hasn’t made any statements about the current situation of the band.
