Tim Lambesis disagreed with something with his bandmate Phil Sgrosso on the new As I Lay Dying album.
When the interviewer asked about the album title in a conversation with Loaded Radio podcast, the singer stated:
“Shoot. I wish I could actually give you the title. Unfortunately, Phil [Sgrosso], our guitar player, and I have a slight disagreement over what the album title should be. We both love the same concept and we’re just sort of toying with the words a little bit.”
Lambesis also revealed that they’ve finished recording it but are still working on getting the right sound during mixing. The rocker further told the following about the delay of the record:
“And we’re just really trying to find that sound where it marries together the nostalgic sound As I Lay Dying is known for with a little bit of a modern twist to it. And for whatever reason, that part’s been delaying the process, but the record’s actually done. [It] just needs to finish the mix.”
Tim’s Previous Statements On The Album
Tim mentioned that the upcoming record will have a mix of heavy and melodic songs. He wrote one of the heaviest tracks in the band’s catalog, while Phil focused on melodic songs. They also collaborated on some songs with a mix of heaviness and melody. The singer also talked about the process of the song in February:
“So what’s interesting about it is the mixing engineer has a few more songs to finish. Not because he’s lazy or anything, but because we always end up like adding a layer or a couple of things here last minute. But he’s been mixing it since I first said that in November, but then with the holidays and everything, there was a little bit of a break. Long story short, he’s still fixing a few things. And we definitely have the album scheduled to come out this year and some tours that are already booked to follow that. I just can’t announce those tours yet.”
As I Lay Dying will start their U.S. tour on July 9 in the West Coast. They’ll perform in cities like Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. The band will end the tour on August 10 at The Observatory Northpark, their hometown venue. Chelsea Grin and Entheos will be joining them on tour.
