The Traitors Just Got a Major Renewal Deal at Peacock

Following its debut in 2023, reality competition series The Traitors (US), hosted by Alan Cumming, has proven itself as a smash hit for Peacock, with Emmy nominations and record-breaking viewership. After a stellar second season which saw C.T. Tamburello and Trishelle Cannatella from MTV’s TheChallenge walk away with the prize pot, Peacock has officially given the green light for not one, but two additional seasons of TheTraitors.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, viewers can expect another three seasons of tantalizing treachery on TheTraitors. Peacock has officially ordered a subsequent fourth and fifth season, in addition to the upcoming Season 3. The reality competition series has already completed filming on its third season, which features stars from across the wide world of reality TV, including a mix of Housewives vets, BigBrother alums, and Survivor legends. The upcoming season runs the gamut of familiar famous faces.

While the early announcement of a multi-season renewal of TheTraitors was surprising, it’s certainly not unexpected that Peacock would want to continue to cash in on the murderous competition show. Last season, Peacock touted the success of the series, revealing it had the largest debut for any reality series on the network, beating out shows like RealHousewives: UltimateGirlsTrip and ParisInLove. In addition to juggernaut ratings, TheTraitors has also achieved recognition from critics, earning five Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Host (Alan Cumming) and Outstanding Reality Competition.

However, before the new season airs in early 2025, host Alan Cumming will have his hands full with the Season 3 crew, which on paper looks like the best yet. Among the sea of faithfuls and traitors next season are Survivor’s Boston Rob, RealHousewivesofNewYork City’s Dorinda Medley, and Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval, who is no stranger to being called a traitor. Some of the infamous reality TV stars joining the aforementioned trio include former WWE superstar Nikki Garcia, SellingSunset’s Chrishell Stause, and RuPaul’s Drag Race icon Bob the Drag Queen.

While nothing is known about the casts of Seasons 4 and 5 just yet, each season provides more twists than the last, with Season 2 featuring BelowDeck alum Kate Chastain crashing the castle mid-season for another shot at winning TheTraitors. Proceeding with a fourth and fifth season of TheTraitors shows the network’s confidence in the reality competition series. TheTraitors US is based on a Dutch series called De Verraders, with various international spinoffs developed since 2021.
