Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth are reuniting on screen for a new crime thriller from American Animals writer and director, Bart Layton. Crime 101 follows Hemsworth as detective Lou Lubesnick, who’s attempting to track down a meticulous jewel thief. While his superiors think the crime could have links to Columbian cartels, Lubesnick has found his own suspect as the thief sets their eyes on a final score. Thanks to some leaked set photos, fans now have their first look at Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo in action.
Via Digital Spy (and X/Twitter users @____ee____ and @hemsnews), the photos showcase Hemsworth as detective Lou Lubesnick in between takes during the film’s shoot in Los Angeles. The actor sports a traditional black suit-and-tie, eerily similar to his character from Men in Black: International. Unsurprisingly, Lou Lubesnick won’t be tracking down any aliens in Crime 101. Other photos show Mark Ruffalo acting alongside his co-star, Corey Hawkins (The Color Purple).
Crime 101 is based on the novella of the same name by Don Winslow. The movie features a stacked supporting cast, which includes Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, and Monica Barbaro. Pedro Pascal was originally tapped to play Mark Ruffalo’s unannounced character, but had to depart from the project due to scheduling conflicts, with the MCU star stepping in as a replacement.
Will Mark Ruffalo & Chris Hemsworth Return to the MCU?
Both Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) have recently graced our screens in the MCU. Bruce Banner, now known as Smart Hulk, played a supporting role in the divisive Disney+ series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he helped Jennifer Walters come to grips with her powers. Meanwhile, Thor became the first MCU character to earn a fourth standalone movie. After the roaring success of Thor: Ragnarök, director Taika Waititi couldn’t make lightning strike twice with Thor: Love and Thunder. While fans were delighted to have Thor back on the big screen, they wish it was in literally any other movie.
At the time of writing, neither Hulk nor Thor have been confirmed to appear in any upcoming MCU projects. It is suspected that both characters could appear in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Secret Wars – which is rumored to feature at least 60 Marvel heroes. However, Mark Ruffalo hasn’t publicly declared any potential MCU returns.

Captain America: Brave New World will see Thaddeus Ross’ alter-ego created in a different way to the comics.
Ruffalo almost signed himself up for a Marvel movie he was never meant to be in earlier this year. During an interview, Ruffalo was asked about Captain America: Brave New World, and if he would appear in the movie. Mishearing the question, Ruffalo answered yes, which considerably hyped up the fan base. However, the actor then had to apologize to fans for accidentally misleading them. While Hulk won’t be in Brave New World, Harrison Ford is replacing the late William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross, a.k.a. Red Hulk.
As for Thor, Chris Hemsworth has expressed a desire to make Thor 5. But, the actor has some ideas for what he wants to see from a fifth installment. Having starred in two Extraction films by former stunt performer-turned-director, Sam Hargraves, Hemsworth is adamant about more movies shooting their action scenes in that John Wick-inspired style. The actor said, if he returns as Thor, he wants to see the same kind of action in the MCU.
