The Reacher universe has now begun, as Prime Video announces the first spinoff from its hugely successful action series. As per a report by Deadline, the spinoff is now being fast-tracked and will center on the fan-favorite character Frances Neagley, played by Maria Sten, who was introduced in the first season. A corporate security professional who served with Reacher in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit, Neagley will reportedly join forces with Alan Ritchson’s behemoth avenger in the spinoff, with the Reacher lead set to appear as a “guest star.”
The spinoff will see Reacher executive producer and showrunner Nick Santora join forces with Nicholas Wootton following the team’s successful run on another hit action/thriller series, Prison Break. According to the report, the pair will “develop, executive produce and co-showrun Neagley.” Much like its predecessor, Neagley will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Skydance Television in conjunction with CBS Studios following recent changes at Paramount. The Neagley spinoff will be executive produced by Lee Child, Don Granger, and Lisa Kussner with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television.
After being introduced to audiences in Reacher Season 1, the character Frances Neagley proved to be a big hit, playing a major role in Season 2. While this was expected, as Neagley also plays a crucial part in the book that the second season was adapted from, the fan-favorite character is all set to play another big role in Reacher Season 3 despite her not appearing in “Persuader,” the novel that will inform the third series.
What Do We Know About Reacher Season 3?
The first season of Reacher introduces Alan Ritchson as the title character, a former U.S. Army Military Police Major now living as a nomad who suddenly finds himself dragged back into action when he is arrested for murder. Based on the series of novels by author Lee Child, Season 2 wrapped up earlier this year and finds the heroic nomad on another mission after members of his old military unit start turning up dead.
A third season is now in the works, and it has now been revealed that the next Jack Reacher adventure will be based on the seventh book in the series, “Persuader,” which finds the character going undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past. Ritchson will, of course, return to lead the series, with Season 3 all set to add several intriguing new characters to the roster, including several villains that will rival Reacher’s size and strength. One such villain is Paulie, who it has now been confirmed will be played by Black Widow and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny star Olivier Richters, aka “The Dutch Giant.” Far bigger and more powerful than the already big and powerful Reacher, this clash of the titans should provide all manner of action in the highly anticipated third season.
