In a new chat with Matt Bingham of the Z93 radio station, The Offspring’s Noodles talked about Dexter Holland’s hunger for more success.
When asked how he and his bandmates keep it exciting when they write and record music, the guitarist said:
“From the songwriting perspective, [singer] Dexter [Bryan Holland] likes the challenge. He just wants to see what he can do. He keeps wanting to beat himself. He’s a cross-country runner. He’s been running Half Ironmans lately, and he just always wants to beat his last time.”
Still, Noodles isn’t as competitive as Holland:
“And this time he wants to beat his last numbers. He wants to have more radio hits, he wants to have more streams. For me, it’s just fun to play guitar on stuff and listen to new stuff and try to be creative. I’m not as driven in terms of wanting to succeed. I’m not competitive, I guess — I’m not competitive with my old self or my new self. I just love playing guitar and singing.”
Album Announcement And Musical Direction
The Offspring announced their new album, ‘Supercharged’ last month on Instagram. Along with the first single, ‘Make It All Right,’ they wrote:
“We’re thrilled to announce that our new album ‘SUPERCHARGED’ will be released on October 11th! We wanted this record to have pure energy – from the start to the finish! That’s why we called it ‘SUPERCHARGED.’ Pre-order/pre-save now + listen to the new single ‘Make It All Right’ at the link in our bio.”
Earlier this month, Noodles also discussed the creative direction of their upcoming record. He told Chaoszine:
“Each song is viewed separately. And then once you have a bunch of songs, then you kind of see where the record is going And then you just try to build on that. I don’t think we’ve ever changed that much. We’ve never done a concept record. We never went, ‘All right, we’re done with this punk rock pop stuff. We wanna be metal now.’”
The Offspring’s eleventh studio album, ‘Supercharged’ will arrive on October 11, 2024. This will be their first album with bassist Todd Morse as an official member, along with multi-instrumentalist Jonah Nimoy and drummer Brandon Pertzborn joining for the first time.
