In an interview with LA Lloyd, Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix said he believes Falling In Reverse and Bad Omens will keep rock alive.
The singer is happy about the current rock scene as he feels the energy of the early 2000s is back. Shaddix shared his excitement for the younger bands:
“And then you’ve got this new artist Falling In Reverse that’s coming up, and there’s a lot of younger [bands] — Beartooth, Bring Me the Horizon, and a lot of very inspired younger bands — Bad Omens — coming up. And I think the future of rock is exciting — rock and punk rock music. It’s just bubbling, man. And so, it’s a good time to be in rock and roll.”
Ronnie Radke Previously Congratulated Bad Omens
Bad Omens beat Falling In Reverse in a list of the 30 most popular hard rock songs from 2023, voted by Octane listeners. Then Falling In Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke reacted to it on X, writing:
“Congrats to Bad Omens for #1 of the year and thank you to everyone that made ‘Watch the World Burn’ #2 even though the song has no chorus and makes no sense structurally. This list is determined on streams and statistics, unlike the Grammys, where they just randomly pick stuff. So it’s because of you all. So, thank you for 3 years in a row of making me #1 and now #2. Love you, all.”
Radke Criticized New Bands
Unlike Jacoby, Radke is not happy with the current music scene. In a February post on X, the vocalist criticized the new wave of bands, saying:
“I find it hilarious that the new hardcore kids are all a bunch of bitch made soft a** communist d*ck riders with pronouns in their bio reciting lyrics from bands talking about how tough they are and how violent they are. Hardcore used to be cool. It is not cool anymore.”
Radke also slammed new metal bands by saying they were acting contradictory in January. He made fun of them for singing about violence in their songs but being sensitive on social media.
