The Cure is back with new music.
The band took to social media to announce that they are set to release a new song pretty soon. Titled ‘Alone,’ the track is dropping on September 26. The song will premiere on Mary Anne Hobbs’s BBC Radio 6 Music show.
The news arrived after the fans in the mail list shared on various social media platforms that they received a mysterious black postcard in the mail.
The postcard features the phrase ‘Songs for a Lost World’ in scattered letters, along with the numbers 1, 11, and 24.
Robert Smith and the band have been teasing ‘Songs for a Lost World’ for several years. In June 2021, the Cure announced two new albums that have been completed. While talking to NME in 2022, Robert Smith said that the second of the Cure albums he has been working on is finished. He mentioned that there are ten songs on each album and that they were planning to release it in September of that year.
Things didn’t go as planned, and the band couldn’t release the album on the scheduled date. Since then, they have been on their ‘Show for a Lost World’ tour.
