Star Wars fans can finally look forward to it as Lucasfilm has set a release date for Andor on Disney+. A prequel/spin-off of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor follows the title character of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) on his journey to join the Rebel Alliance. The series is the most critically acclaimed Star Wars television series, with many calling it one of the best Star Wars stories ever, alongside the most well-regarded movies in the franchise. While Season 1 took place over one year, Season 2 of Andor will consist of three episode pairings that will lead up to the events of Rogue One.
On the Disney+ mobile app, via Screen Rant, a poster for Andor showed the caption “Season 2 coming April 22.” The date on the ad has been taken down since. If the release date is true, Andor Season 2 will arrive two years and five months after Season 1 concludes on Nov. 23, 2022. Andor Season 2 will consist of 12 episodes, but it is unclear if Disney+ will release the first three episodes together like they did with Andor Season 1.
The release date for Andor Season 2, dropping on Apr. 22, 2025, would make a lot of sense. It would be two days after Star Wars Celebration in Japan, which will run from April 18 through April 20, 2025. This likely means fans in attendance will get to see the first episode of Andor before everyone else. The April 2025, release date also seems to coincide with Disney+’s other big series, Daredevil: Born Again, which will wrap up its nine-episode run after it debuts on Mar. 4, 2025. This way, the two series from Disney’s biggest brands won’t be competing against one another, like back in 2022 when Obi-Wan Kenboi and Ms. Marvel were airing at the same time.
2025 Will Be Light on Star Wars, But Andor Is More Than Enough
Andor was initially planned to consist of five seasons, each season spanning one year of time leading up to the events of Rogue One, but the series creator retooled Season 2 to encompass four years as he saw the original five-year plan as impossible due to the large scale nature of the series. This ended up working out, as in the years since Andor was greenlit, Disney appears to be scaling back production on Star Wars television series and emphasizing feature films. As of this writing, Andor is the only Star Wars series set to debut in 2025, with Skeleton Crew wrapping up its run of eight episodes in January 2025 after debuting in December 2024. The next Star Wars series after Andor is Ashoka Season 2, which is not expected to air until 2026.

Syril actor Kyle Soller may have just inadvertently added fuel to this longstanding Andor fan theory.
While Disney+ might be light on new Star Wars series in 2025, the streamer will make up for it with a slew of Marvel Television series. Andor is being released between Daredevil: Born Again in March 2025 and Ironheart in June 2025. In addition, there will also be Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in January, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December 2025. Hopefully, before Andor premieres, fans will not only have a good idea of the future of Star Wars films but maybe some new Star Wars television announcements to look forward to.
