The Bear has become an annual summer staple and, according to the head of FX, Season 4 will continue the trend. First debuting on Hulu in 2022, The Bear has become one of the most beloved new shows of the last few years. Following renowned chef Carmen Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) as he transforms his deceased brother’s sandwich shop into a fine-dining hub, The Bear has resonated with audiences with its stressful look inside the service industry, and it’s inspiring story about self-improvement and found family.
Following The Bear‘s impressive dent in the recently announced Emmy nominations, FX boss John Landgraf spoke to Variety about the show’s performance, and teased when Season 4 might be hitting our screens. Season 3 has been out for less than a month and fans are already desperate for more, but Landgraf has now said that Season 4 will not arrive any sooner than previous seasons thanks to the immense success its cast have since found in Hollywood. The exec said:
“We couldn’t bring it back sooner because of all of the film projects the actors are on right now. We started a show with a team of great actors. Now we have a show with a team of movie stars. They do have to go back for a chunk of production. And we actually haven’t seen all the scripts yet. We’ve seen most of them, but not all of them.”
The Bear
Set in a Chicago sandwich shop, The Bear follows Carmy Berzatto, a young professionally trained chef who returns to take over his family business after the unexpected death of his brother. At odds with many of the shop’s employees due to his culinary training, Carmy struggles to maintain order and keep the shop from failing entirely. Jeremy Allen White stars as Carmy alongside Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Ayo Edebiri.
- Release Date
- June 23, 2022
While Season 4 won’t be served up any sooner than past seasons, Landgraf revealed his hopes that Season 4 will follow the show’s annual release trend. So far, all three seasons have been released roughly a year apart every June. Landgraf believes Season 4 will follow suit, explaining:
“So I’m actually incredibly proud and grateful to the team at The Bear that have dedicated themselves — despite of all the other hoopla they’ve been dealing with — to bring this thing back annually. I can’t say for sure, but my guess is it’ll come back the same time next year.”
The Bear Cooks Up Multiple Emmy Nominations
The Bear‘s adored second season was a strong contender as this year’s Emmy nominees were announced. To the surprise of few, The Bear managed to snag a few nominations, but no one was expecting quite how many FX’s hit series would earn. The Bear garnered 23 Emmy nominations, making it the most nominated ‘comedy’ in a single year. The nominations include Best Leading Actor and Actress for Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri, Best Supporting Actor and Actress for Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Colón-Zayas, Best Comedy Series, Best Guest Actor for Jon Bernthal… TheShockNews goes on, and on, and on.
