FX’s hit series The Bear won big at the Creative Arts Emmys. The awards show took place over two nights, on September 7 and 8, commemorating the technical achievements of this year’s best shows. The Bear‘s second season (released in mid-2023) took home a total of seven Creative Arts Emmys, with the acclaimed series dominating one of the show’s most popular categories. Five of The Bear‘s Season 2 guest stars were nominated for their performances in the show. On the night, Jon Bernthal and Jamie Lee Curtis took home the respective Best Male and Best Female Guest Star in a Comedy awards.
The pair were nominated for their performances in the lauded episode “Fishes.” The episode took viewers back in time to a family Christmas, which is already a stressful event for many families, so you can imagine how much more intense the Berzatto version is. With an emotionally manipulative mother (played by Curtis), a pill-addicted brother (played by Bernthal), and a consortium of other colorful characters, “Fishes” is one of the most anxiety-inducing episodes of TV in recent history.
Alongside Jon Bernthal and Jamie Lee Curtis, Olivia Colman, Bob Odenkirk, and Will Poulter were also up for contention in their respective categories. Odenkirk appeared alongside Curtis and Bernthal in the episode, with his character, Uncle Lee, getting into a heated argument with Bernthal’s Michael Berzatto.
Olivia Colman was nominated for her short but impactful performance as Chef Terry in the fan-favorite episode “Forks,” in which Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) finds the motivation to turn his life around. Meanwhile, Will Poulter appeared in the least stressful episode of the show (lucky him), “Honeydew.” The episode took The Bear away from Chicago as Marcus (Lionel Boyce) traveled to Copenhagen to train under Chef Luca (Poulter).
The Bear Season 4 Won’t Be Releasing Soon
Season 3 of The Bear was released earlier this year, and it divided the fan base. Critics argued that Season 3 was too slow, and lacked any real development, as the show’s return saw Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and the rest of the staff at The Bear restaurant work hard to earn a Michelin Star. Meanwhile, Season 3’s defenders believe that its slower pacing, with an emphasis on its side characters’ backstories and the people around Carmy, was on brand for The Bear‘s unique style. Season 3 was undoubtedly the least stressful season so far. However, it is likely only a temporary reprieve before Season 4 hits our screens.
Debuting in 2022, The Bear has released one new season per year. However, as creator and showrunner Christopher Storer shot Seasons 3 and 4 back-to-back, fans hoped that there may be a shorter wait this time. Sadly, Jeremy Allen White has confirmed that isn’t true. The actor revealed that Season 4 won’t be hitting our screens until sometime next year. He said:
“I’m not exactly sure when. I know it’s not going to be until next year. I imagine sometime early next year, a similar start date to the last couple of years: February/March time.”
