Fans are loving the FX series The Bear, and so are the Emmys, as the series has now overtaken 30 Rock to hold the record for the most nominations for a comedy show in history. Starring the likes of Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, The Bear quickly became a breakout hit upon its debut in 2022, with Season 1 earning 13 Emmy nods and winning 11 for a near-sweep.
The Bear picked up a whopping 23 Emmy nominations for Season 2, beating the record of 22 previously held by Tina Fey’s 30 Rock, which lasted from 2006 to 2011. Among this year’s nods are Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri for Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress respectively, Outstanding Comedy Series, and Jamie Lee Curtis, Bob Odenkirk and Jon Bernthal for Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress In A Comedy Series.

The Bear Keeps Breaking Records
While the first two seasons of The Bear were highly regarded among both critics and fans, Season 3 didn’t receive the same praise upon its debut. With a dramatic drop to 89% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to the scores of its predecessors, the third season was still praised for its performances, but according to MovieWeb’s own Greg Archer, it feels like one of “experimentation and change.”
Still, that didn’t stop the series from breaking yet another record, with Season 3 becoming Hulu’s biggest scripted premiere ever with a massive 5.4 million views in just its first four days, a 24% increase over Season 2 during the same amount of time. It now sits at number three among overall season premieres, including non-scripted shows. Quite an achievement for a series that began in 2022 and is still in its infancy in many regards.
