With less than a week left for the U.S. presidential election, the original Avengers have reunited once again to battle the convicted former president, Donald J. Trump. Although the MCU franchise disbanded the superhero team after a decade on screen, some of the biggest movie stars in the world have joined forces to advocate against the candidacy of Trump.
In a video revealed by Vanity Fair, cast members from the Avengers movie franchise including Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Danai Gurira, and Paul Bettany encourage people to go out and vote. They also attempt to create one-liners for current vice president and presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Their on-screen chemistry is on full display during the online Zoom call as they try to encourage voters to submit their ballots on November 5 for the incumbent. The website iwillvote.com is included at the end of the video for those seeking information about the voting process a few days out from the deadline. Johansson was forthcoming about the video, which hopes to create “a viral moment” to push people towards voting for the VP.
“We don’t just rib each other. We also share information about different events or fundraisers. We’ve got a lot of powerful people on this thread, and it would be great to unite…in hopefully creating a bit of a viral moment for Kamala.”
Assembling the original Avengers proved to be easier than expected, says Johansson. Even though everyone was busy doing their own projects, and in vastly different countries, each member was quick to answer the call.
“Everybody is so busy and insanely spread out. Chris is shooting a movie in Bulgaria. Robert is currently treading the planks on Broadway. Mark is doing a movie. Danai is canvassing in Atlanta. I was in the Grand Canyon. Don is, I don’t know, probably on a golf course somewhere. But we were able to get everybody…on a Zoom all together at the same time, which was crazy and hilarious.”
Celebrities Going All-Out Against Donald Trump
Several celebrities are endorsing Trump – including former DC actor Zachary Levi – but there has been a wave of high-profile artists coming out against the former president. Moreover, more Marvel actors have made their opinions known about the upcoming U.S. election. Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista made headlines by roasting Trump for his toxic rhetoric. Aubrey Plaza recently voiced her disgust at the so-called joke made by a comedian at a Trump rally calling Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage. With both presidential candidates making their closing arguments over the past week, more celebs feel the need to make a last-second push.

Out of the many Avengers members to make an appearance in the video, it seems Johansson was especially passionate about the subject. Johansson told Vanity Fair her direct thoughts about another Trump presidency, making it clear this election is personal for her.
“My daughter is 10 years old, and I am thinking about how much damage is done—not just politically and socially, but also environmentally—under the Trump administration. It feels almost like an emergency. It feels very urgent to support the opposite of that.”
