In a recent chat on Real America’s Voice, Ted Nugent’s wife Shemane chatted with the actor John Schneider and called out the rockers who refuse to talk about politics.
“There are a lot of a-list rock and roll musicians who refuse to get involved in politics because it’s gonna hurt their ticket sales. I’m sure you know some of those people too,” Nugent told Schneider. “What was it that made you say, ‘Screw it, I’m gonna do it,’?”
“This is not a matter of politics right now. This is a matter of the life and death of our country,” the actor replied. “It’s a matter of the freedom or enshacklement of our children and our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren. We’re old enough now that we understand that great-grandchildren aren’t something somebody else has. So we’ve got to do something.”
“If you make a choice to not say anything today because you’re afraid of diminishing ticket sales, then I don’t think you should sell another record anyway,” he added.
Shemane’s husband has been known for his political stances both on and off stage. Along with Nugent, many rockers have voiced their political views, and some even advised fans not to listen to them if they didn’t like their political stances. “So you trust JD Vance to lead you and your country then? Please stop listening to my music,” former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach responded to a fan saying they can’t stand Bach’s politics but love the music.
Some rockers even reacted to Nugent’s statements. “He’s a really great guitar player, in my eyes. And people put him down for his politics. But you know what? He’s very vocal about it, and I kind of agree with him. To be that vocal… It’s America. To be able to have your freedom to say whatever you want and do whatever you want. And his audience is right with him,” Carmine Appice said in July this year.
Ted Nugent last performed at OC Bike Fest 2024 on September 13 this year.
