The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen addressed the hate and the negativity she has been receiving. In a new interview with Classic Rock, the frontwoman talked about her decision to quit acting and start her music career at 14. She responded to the people who doubted her and said:
“Actually, I think the hate and negativity has kind of gone away. I was on a TV show that was a hit across the world [Gossip Girl], but we’ve been a band for almost sixteen years, we’ve toured the world relentlessly and made four records. To all those people who doubted us… [laughs] did I mention we are touring with AC/DC? You don’t get an AC/DC tour for being on a television show. It comes from paying your dues.”
Momsen Doesn’t Regret Quitting Acting
Momsen rose to fame for her roles as Cindy Lou Who in ‘The Grinch’ and Jenny Humphrey in ‘Gossip Girl.’ Even though she found fame thanks to her acting career, she saw acting as just a ‘day job.’
In an earlier interview, the singer said she doesn’t regret quitting her acting career to build a music career. She explained:
“I grew up writing songs and I’ve been singing since before I can remember. As soon as I could write, it became this way for me to express myself. I played in bands in middle school and I was always working at this. Acting was always a day job. It was a cool experience, but it was my childhood.”
She added:
“I quit everything else and just focused on music. It was the best decision I ever made, because it’s my true passion.”
