The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen now accepts the ‘Batgirl’ label.
The vocalist recently joined an interview with GRAMMY.com and talked about her touring memories with AC/DC. Momsen shared onstage and behind-the-scenes photos from the tour and also recalled a moment in Seville, Spain when the audience went crazy during ‘Witches Burn,’ and it took her until the end of the song to understand why:
“So I guess now is a good time to talk about…the bat. I was just minding my own business singing (appropriately) ‘Witches Burn’ [at our next show in Seville, Spain] when the audience all started pointing and screaming. It took til the end of the song to figure out what happened…”
She went on to talk about what happened afterward:
“But the jumbotrons caught it all. There it is, clinging to me. The noise must have scared the hell out of it. Then came the [rabies] shots…that was not fun for a loooong time. Ten shots over weeks in multiple countries. Then came the jokes (All with love from the amazing AC/DC crew, love you Super!!). Then came the nickname Batgirl. Can’t escape it, so just own it!”
Other Details About The Bat Incident
Momsen was bitten by a bat during a live show in Spain while opening for AC/DC. While she was on stage in Seville, the audience shouted to warn her about the bat on her leg. She didn’t notice the bat on her dress and asked the crowd what they were pointing at in the footage:
“You guys are pointing at something and I don’t know what you’re saying.”
Then she saw the bat and calmly asked for help to remove it:
“There’s a f*cking flying bat on my leg right now, can someone help me, please? I must really be a witch.”
Later, Taylor said on X that she couldn’t forget the bat incident. She shared a post about the evolution of the ‘Batman’ logo and wrote:
“This is cool and gives me PTSD at the same time.”
A few days after the bat incident, AC/DC gave Momsen a funny gift. She posted a video of herself opening a toy bat from them, saying she loved the gift and thought they were the best. She also thanked them for their hard work every night.
