Michael Starr shared why he prefers Van Halen over Led Zeppelin.
Star has been a fan of Van Halen since his teenage years. He recently spoke to The Hook Rocks podcast and walked fans through his music career. He then spoke about his early influences, saying:
“When I was around 11 or 12, first, it was the Beatles, and then it was like Elvis. Then I got into Scorpions because my brother turned me on to them, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath. Those were the three bands that I really dug until I moved to California.”
His musical taste took a turn when he moved to California, though:
“I loved Led Zeppelin, obviously, but then I moved to California. I remember having posters of Robert Plant and Jimmy Page on my wall. Then, when I got turned on the Van Halen for real, I was like ‘Take that poster down!’ Now it was Dave and Ed everywhere. That was my band.”
Starr ‘Loves’ Playing Their Songs
Starr also admits that he had a deeper connection with Van Halen’s music. He says he finds their music fun to sing anytime and everywhere:
“I’m an old dude, right? And I still love Van Halen just like I did when I was a teenager. I love singing it, I love playing it, and I love performing whether it’s a little teeny bar, a huge arena, or a stadium. I don’t care, it’s just fun.”
Steel Panther introduced their sixth studio album, ‘On The Prowl,’ in February 2023. They are currently touring the U.S. Grab your tickets here.
