The new Smashing Pumpkins will arrive next month.
The band’s frontman Billy Corgan announced it with the following message on X:
“We played this game of rock and roll for 36 years. And… had to give the knee many times to what is the first song and what is the first statement and let other people judge us by one moment in time. We felt the right way to hear this record was an intact body of work.”

He revealed how many songs the album will include:
“10 songs, about 45 minutes, and then let the fans decide whether or not what we’ve done is what we set out to accomplish, whether we put ourselves back in that original position, whether we were able to go home again with this record. So on August 2nd, 2024, it’ll be there for everyone to listen to.”
The singer said it will be out just in digital format right now:
“We’re just gonna put it out digitally. Of course, we’re gonna put it for sale and that comes later, but we want to just put the record out. And we’re proud of what we’ve done, but we want people to hear the record as one body of work and they can decide the value of what we have done. William Patrick Corgan. ‘Aghori Mhori Mei’ available on August 2, 2024.”
The Song Names And Corgan’s Statements
In another post on Instagram, the band also listed the names of the new songs in the upcoming record:
“10 songs. 45 minutes. Based on the names of the songs alone – what’s your favorite song?
‘Edin’
‘Pentagrams’
‘Sighommi’
‘Pentecost’
‘War Dreams of Itself’
‘Who Goes There’
‘999’
‘Goeth the Fall’
‘Sicarus’
‘Murnau.’”
In a separate statement, Corgan also talked about the songwriting process of the band’s new record:
“In the writing of this new album I became intrigued with the well-worn axiom, ‘you can’t go home again.’ Which I have found personally to be true in form but thought well, what if we tried anyway? Not so much in looking backwards with sentimentality but rather as a means to move forward; to see if in the balance of success and failure that our ways of making music circa 1990-1996 would still inspire something revelatory.”
It’s their first album since guitarist Jeff Schroeder left in 2023. Kiki Wong is now playing guitar for their tour. Starting July 29, they will be touring with Green Day and others for the Saviors Tour. They have headlining shows in the U.S. until September 28 at Petco Park in San Diego. The Latin American tour starts on November 1 in Brasilia, Brazil.
