Slipknot fans believe Eloy Casagrande is better for the band than Jay Weinberg after seeing their first show with the drummer.
Slipknot played at the Sick New World festival this past weekend with Eloy. This show on April 27 was the first big festival show with him. Fans are now excited because they think he joined Slipknot. Those who went to the shows or watched some fan footage seem to think Eloy is doing a great job as the new drummer. On Reddit, they say he fits better with the band than Jay Weinberg:
“Jay fanboys are gonna hate this – but Eloy is a much better fit.”
Another wrote:
“I like Jay but he’s not even close to being on Eloy’s level.”
Others even said that Eloy’s drumming made them listen to Slipknot again after not following them for years:
“Eloy made me get back to Slipknot after 10 years.”
Slipknot had a smaller show in Pioneertown, California on April 25, and it was also with Eloy.
Slipknot Brings Back Their Old Era
Slipknot brought back their old style from 1999 at both of these concerts. They wore red jumpsuits and masks similar to those they wore when they first started. This year marks 25 years since they began making music, and according to comments on Instagram, fans liked this change.
Slipknot previously shared a photo of a broken drumstick that looks a lot like the ones Eloy uses. This was the start of the rumors that Eloy might have joined the band.
Jay Weinberg is now playing with Infectious Grooves and seems happy with his new music projects. He has shared pictures and messages online showing he’s enjoying his new work.
Casagrande used to play drums for Sepultura. He left them in February to start new projects.
