Country music’s effect on Slash may shape his future projects with Guns N’ Roses.
The guitarist recorded The Conspirators’ ‘4’ album in Nashville’s Music City. The genre’s history there, especially the story of ‘Lloyd Green, a pedal steel guy,’ inspired his music later on. He recently shared the experience with People at the Gibson Garage:
“So, when I came home from recording that record, I picked up a pedal steel and I started [playing]. It’s very much a Nashville thing that’s gone home with me and I’ve been very passionate about for the last couple of years.”
Country In His New Solo Work
Slash’s love for the genre found its way into his latest blues album, ‘Orgy of the Damned.’ He collaborated with country singer Chris Stapleton to cover Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Oh Well’ for the record.
The guitarist praised Stapleton’s performance by saying:
“Somebody like Chris Stapleton, when it’s done from pure of heart and it’s done with passion and integrity, it’s as great as anything else.”
An Album With GN’R Is On The Way
Slash’s Guns N’ Roses bandmates didn’t appear in ‘Orgy of the Damned’ because it was a solo effort, but they are reportedly working on their new album right now. The guitarist revealed his plans with the band in a chat with Loudwire Nights:
“I’m going into the studio with the Conspirators, getting a new record done, and then after that, 2025 is all about Guns N’ Roses.”
GN’R hasn’t released a studio album since 2008’s ‘Chinese Democracy.’
