Lots of things have been changing at the lately, and on Friday, Nov. 15, fans noticed something else was different.
, who is one of the co-hosts on the NBC talk show’s 3rd Hour, was absent from Friday’s episode, prompting NBC News Now anchor Savannah Sellers to fill in and take her place.
Sellers—who often substitutes for missing anchors—also joined hosts and , marking her second day in a row on the 3rd Hour after Dreyer was absent for Thursday’s show.
Jones’ absence on Friday comes in the wake of several shakeups going on at Today, after Melvin, 45, was named as ‘s new co-host in replacement of , who will be leaving the NBC show early next year.
After the news about Kotb’s replacement was announced this week, Melvin to share his gratitude for the new opportunity.

“I’m also thankful for all of you who have called, posted, texted and emailed your well wishes,” he wrote, alongside a series of photos taken with his colleagues on set of the NBC studio. “My heart overflows with gratitude.”
Kotb’s departure also leaves a void on her show with , Hoda & Jenna, which will soon be renamed to Jenna & Friends after Kotb exits.
“TODAY’s fourth hour will become TODAY with Jenna & Friends starting Jan. 13, 2025,” on Thursday. “The show will feature a rotating cast of fill-in co-hosts until a permanent host is named.”
