Selena Gomez knows that her beauty brand is, well, rare.
In a new interview with Time, the 31-year-old singer, actress and entrepreneur directly addressed the rumors that she plans to sell her cosmetics company Rare Beauty — and she’s not going anywhere.
“I don’t have any plans on that, genuinely,” she told the outlet in a story published on Wednesday, May 29. The star added that she’ll be working on products for the next few years.
Gomez admitted that while the business aspect of running Rare Beauty, which was selected as one of Time100’s Most Influential Companies, can be overwhelming, she chooses to focus on how she can use her platform to help others.
“I have this weird thing in my head where if I focus on the numbers, I’ll lose whatever it is that made Rare Beauty Rare Beauty,” she said. “I never wanted it to be about making a lot of money and that’s it.”

Per Time, the company’s philanthropic arm, Rare Impact Fund, has a goal of raising $100 million within the brand’s first 10 years and has already raised $13 million. Additionally, 1% of all Rare Beauty sales are donated to the foundation, which is focused on making mental health resources accessible.
“As far as the products go, I think the possibilities are endless,” the Only Murders in the Building star said in a video for Time100. “I’m not shying away from anything. I think I’m just taking my time because I don’t know if I’d want to push every idea out right away. I sit with my products, I have testing… I just kind of live with it for a bit.”
Rare Beauty is reportedly valued at $2 billion. At the Time100 Summit in New York City in April 2024, Gomez seemingly addressed rumors that she was stepping down from the company.
“I don’t think I’m going anywhere. I am enjoying this a little too much,” she said during an onstage Q&A, adding that the company is her “pride and joy.”

For the March 2024 launch of Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Luminous Powder Blush, Gomez told PEOPLE that she was proud of her brand’s commitment to spreading positivity.
Like all of Rare Beauty’s products, the latest blushes carry out that message with names like Hope, Happy, Joy and Love carried over from the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush family and new names Cheer and Truth.
“I’m a strong believer that positivity is contagious, and I love that our product names serve as little #rarereminders, each named after a kind word,” Gomez said at the time. “I’m very proud that our brand purpose extends to our product names and reflects our company values.”
