Former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach is upset that Corey Taylor did not pay him like Myles Kennedy did.
During a new interview with Rocktails, Bach talked about his collaboration with Myles Kennedy in the new song ‘What Do I Got To Lose?’ The Skid Row rocker revealed that the song was a payment. He also mentioned his friendship with the Slipknot rocker. As Bach says, Taylor could have paid him the way Kennedy did. He explained:
“This is co-written by Myles Kennedy, who really did me a song. But I’m friends with a lot of rockers that are in bands like Corey Taylor of Slipknot has always said, ‘You’re one of my favorite performers as a kid.’ When he was first on the Jay Leno Tonight Show, he wore a Skid Row tour shirt from when he was a little kit. He said he was so nervous and I really like Corey but Corey’s never written a song for me. Corey’s never asked me to play a gig with him.”
Bach then explained that Kennedy’s paying was the ‘way’ someone should pay:
“Love you Corey, but Myles was like, ‘Hey dude, can I get you back on the radio? Can I write a song? It’s gonna f*cking crush the planet.’ And I want to thank Myles Kennedy for paying back. If he was a young kid listening to me singing Skid Row for him to write songs with me in 2022-2023. That’s the way to pay back to somebody. He helped me out.”
Bach’s Performance With Taylor
Bach might have said Taylor never invited him for a live gig, but he still invited Taylor to one of his shows.
The rocker had a live performance on Laserfest Back on May 13, 2012. During his set, Bach got the crowd going and screamed:
“I remember you Iowa!”
Right before he started singing the Skid Row hit ‘Youth Gone Wild,’ he pulled a little surprise on his fans. He continued:
“Well, it’s f*cking true what they say dreams can come true, and it can happen to you Iowa. And you know how I f*cking know that, because one of my best rock ‘n’ roll buddies is from Iowa – give a big welcome right now to Corey Taylor.”
Bach encouraged the crowd to chant ‘Youth Gone Wild’ before getting into the track with Taylor onstage.
New Album’s Coming Out
Kennedy paid Bach with not just one song, but two.
Bach’s first album in ten years is coming out in two months. The 11-track ‘Child Within The Man’ features guest appearances from John 5, Steve Stevens, and Kennedy. The former Skid Row describes his new solo LP:
“An album more than 10 years in the making.”
The album is set to be released on May 10.
In addition to the album’s launch, Bach is going on a 2024 Latin and North American tour. The ‘What Do I Got To Lose?’ tour features solo performances and festival appearances. The tour will start on May 10 in Jefferson, Louisiana, and wrap up on June 29 in San Diego, California.
