In a recent chat with Hear 2 Zen, Skid Row guitarist Scotti Hill talked about bringing another singer to the band after guesting Lzzy Hale earlier this year. When asked if Corey Taylor could potentially be a name for the band, the guitarist responded: “Yeah, I know. Well, see, that’s a name that came up. And he’s a good friend of Rachel’s [Bolan, Skid Row bassist]. They’re tight.”
The interviewer also brought up John Corabi. He mentioned that Skid Row might need to tune down a bit for Corabi’s voice. Scotti said: “I believe his name was brought up also. And we could tune down. When Johnny [Solinger, former Skid Row singer] was in the band, we tuned down a half step. I wouldn’t tune down any more than a half step, ’cause then you can hear it. I mean, I can hear when a band is tuned down a half step. I can totally hear it. I don’t not like it, I don’t disagree with it, but I can hear it. So, yeah, I think [it should] sound as close to original as it can, as far as tempos and pitch.”
Corey Taylor is pretty close with Skid Row. Back in 2011, he covered their song ‘I Remember You’ during a performance. He also shared his thoughts on the band and Sebastian Bach four years ago.
“Yeah, he’s one of my heroes, man,” Taylor said of Bach. “The first two Skid Row albums are amazing and I’ll fight people on it. But at the same time, the thing about Sebastian when he first started was – he also had that crew in the music as well. And those five dudes were so good.”
“You could hear the way that Snake [Dave Sabo, guitar] and Scotti [Hill, guitar] – the way their guitars blended together, the way Rachel [Bolan, bass] could put basslines together and write lyrics, the way Rob [Hammersmith] played drums, there was something… It’s just like the original five Guns N’ Roses guys. There was something so special about that chemistry that we forget sometimes that Sebastian was just the icing on the cake for that,” he added.
The rockers brought the Halestorm singer as a guest for this year, but she decided not to continue permanently as she had to focus on her own band. Now the band is still in search of a singer. Meanwhile, Bach continues to send messages to his former bandmates.
