Stapp’s Addiction Affected Creed
After Creed split in 2014, Scott Stapp faced some tough times. He went through a public breakdown and posted a video where he said he was broke and staying in a Holiday Inn. He made frantic 911 calls, mentioned connections to ISIS, and admitted to misusing prescription drugs. Stapp also struggled with delusions and paranoia.
Years of battling substance abuse and mental health issues eventually led to a psychotic episode for Stapp. During Creed’s peak fame, he fought depression and used alcohol and drugs to cope. It affected not just his personal life, but the band too.
Stapp’s problems with drugs and alcohol got worse, and by 2004, his relationship with Tremonti and Scott Phillips was beyond repair.
Stapp went solo, and Tremonti formed Alter Bridge with Marshall, Phillips, and singer Myles Kennedy. Creed reunited in 2009 for the well-received album ‘Full Circle’ and toured until 2012. However, after trying to record a fifth album, the band went on hiatus in 2013.
The singer is now working on his solo music. You can hear his latest album ‘Higher Power’ down below.
