Sammy Hagar recently shared a video on his official Instagram account and revealed that one thing they have in common with Tool’s Maynard James Keenan is that both singers like good wine.
The Former Van Halen frontman started the video, saying:
“Musically, I love his music. He probably hates mine [laughs sarcastically]. But we both love fine wine. Look, Maynard [showing a wine bottle]. I just had this. And I want to tell you about this, okay? This smells like the roadside in Italy. This is like Tuscany driving on a hot day.”
Giving more details about the taste of the wine he had been drinking, the Red Rocker continued:
“I have never smelled raspberries and plums more than this in my life. I think this needs to be a little bit riper, but probably the weather didn’t allow it. I know you are working out, preparing for a big tour. All I can say is you’re missing something, brother. This is living, brother.”
In addition to their passion for music, both Keenan and Hagar are interested in wine. While the Tool singer has taken it as a business venture, Sammy has been a wine collector since his early years in the music industry. In a chat, Maynard even said a few months ago that he had been making music to fund his vineyard. He explained:
“Yeah, it’s a hundred-percent true because it’s very expensive, and it’s not all successes. We have as many failures as we have successes. When it comes to sites, varieties, and approach, it took us four years of growing Nebbiolo to realize that it wanted to be cane-pruned.”
