Sammy Hagar recently shared one more post on Instagram from their rehearsal with Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony, and Jason Bonham.
In the comment section of the post, he revealed why a surprise Van Halen show with Wolfgang was not possible. A user asked:
“Hi Sammy! Wolfgang is playing on July 21st in Albany, NY. He is off the next night when you’re in Saratoga. Albany and Saratoga are not too far from each other. It would be awesome if he made an appearance. It would be nice to have a Van Halen play with you and Mikey. Especially for Mikey because he never got to connect with Ed before his passing. Mikey deserves that. Besides the great music; the other great thing that Van Halen produced was you and Mikey’s great friendship.”
Hagar had to turn the offer down by stating that it would be an awesome performance:
“That would be awesome but most bands, especially that traveled by bus can’t detour their routing even on a day off without spending way too many hours on that bus but we will see it would be nice. I agree and of course, Wolf is welcome anytime any place anywhere.”
Wolfgang’s Thoughts On The Tour
In their tour, Hagar and the rest of the crew will be focusing mostly on Van Halen songs. Though Wolfgang will not be a part of the lineup to perform them, he’s excited to hear them live.
In an interview on ‘Out Of The Box With Jonathan Clarke,’ Wolfgang was asked about Hagar’s summer 2024 tour. He said:
“Yeah, that’s super cool, man. I’m stoked for it. I’m actually, I’m gonna be seeing Mike [Anthony] in Vegas, so I’m stoked to give him a hug.”
What Songs Will They Play?
In an earlier interview, Michael Anthony explained that their upcoming tour will focus mainly on Van Halen songs but will also include a mix of other tracks. He described it as more than just a tribute tour, calling it a ‘thank you tour’ for the fans.
Anthony mentioned they will play songs from Sammy Hagar and Joe Satriani’s solo careers, as well as some Led Zeppelin tracks.
The tour will start on July 13 in West Palm Beach, FL, and end on August 31 in St. Louis, MO.
