How would Tool’s Maynard James Keenan sound like if he sang Van Halen’s ‘Jump’?
Sammy Hagar recently shared a video on his Instagram of him minutes before walking to the stage. In the video, the rocker tries to cool down since it was 114 degrees in Phoenix. Keenan commented on the post.
“Bananas how hot it was on stage,” the Tool frontman said of the heat. “You should’ve joined me you could’ve sang ‘Jump,’” Hagar jokingly offered.
In 2019, when Keenan appeared on an episode of Rock & Roll Road Trip With Hagar, it seemed like an odd match. However, Keenan and Hagar are actually good friends, and the Red Rocker is a huge fan of Tool.
When Goldmine asked Hagar to list ’10 Albums That Changed My Life,’ he included Tool’s third album, ‘Ænima.’ “This album is so great musically — and so remote from any record that I could ever make — that it drives and inspires me,” Hagar said of the album. “‘Ænima’ is so innovative, raw and dark. I’ve become friends with Maynard, and I think he’s one of the great artists of our time. He’s a genius and a complete renaissance man. We’re kind of like the odd couple.”
‘The Best Of All Worlds Tour’ is still on. The rockers will end the tour on September 23 at Tokyo Ariake Arena in Japan.
