Deadpool & Wolverine has plenty of one-liners, in-jokes, and knowing put-downs…but Ryan Reynolds has one particular piece of dialogue that he considers his favorite – and it is a standout moment in the phenomenally successful movie. While accepting the Best Screenplay Award at Hamilton’s 13th Behind the Camera Awards for his work on the Marvel juggernaut, Reynolds revealed that Hugh Jackman’s scathing deconstruction of Deadpool is the part of the script he is “most proud of.”
It is hard to understate just how much of a success Deadpool & Wolverine has been for Marvel Studios. After starting out as a fan dream that could never come true following Jackman’s “retirement” from the Wolverine role – remember Logan died…for real!- it seems almost impossible to comprehend how far the film has come, breaking every record imaginable, and becoming one of Marvel’s highest grossing movies.
The accolade received by Reynolds at the Behind the Camera Awards is certainly not going to be the last that Deadpool & Wolverine receives in the coming months, so we will probably be hearing a lot more from Reynolds in the future. This time around, he shared:
“The thing I’m probably most proud of was the Wolverine speech in the van where he just tears Deadpool a new one. To me, it’s one of the most beautiful scenes in the movie because you see what a raw, visceral, powerhouse of an actor Hugh Jackman is. But you also see the roles reversed. You see a character who is never verbose, who is a Clint Eastwood archetype, suddenly going, ‘Oh yeah, man? Well, I can talk too.’”
Ryan Reynolds Shares His Pride in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
For fans, Deadpool & Wolverine delivered everything it promised and more. Even critics were hard-pressed to find fault with the latest offering from Marvel Studios, mainly thanks to the incomparable on-screen chemistry between Reynolds and Jackman. However, as Reynolds noted, there is much more to the movie’s success – and, of course, he was going to crow about it.
“So many people came together to make this film what it is. This infusion of joy and emotion and warmth and heart and all the things that we love so, so much. I am incredibly proud of this movie, not just because of the film’s performance at the box office, that’s not remotely important. Unless you don’t follow or track box office, in which case let me tell you, it’s extraordinary.”

For those who have not yet indulged in Deadpool & Wolverine, the film is currently riding high in the Disney+ chart, where it is likely to stay for a while. There has been no official confirmation of where and when we will see Marvel’s dynamic duo turn up again, but, as expected, Kevin Feige and his team are constantly asking themselves that very question. For many fans, that cannot come soon enough, but at the same time, absence does make the heart grow fonder, so perhaps we don’t need to see them too soon after all.
