Over 100 people were killed during a rock band’s show on March 22 after multiple attackers fired at the venue.
The attackers targeted Crocus City Hall located outside Moscow in the town of Krasnogorsk. Russian rock band Picnic was scheduled to perform in the venue. The attackers opened fire with automatic weapons during the event and killed at least 133 people. An additional 60 are in serious condition.
Many online videos from the incident were taken and shared all over social media. The footage shows the entire building was up in flames.
Around 100 people were reportedly rescued from the venue by firefighters, and the condition of the band members is still unknown.
Who Were The Attackers?
The attackers’ identities are not confirmed yet. Russian MP Alexander Khinshtein mentioned that the attackers fled in a white Renault car. The car was later stopped by police in the Bryansk region 340 kilometers away from Moscow. The Russian government has stated that the four suspected gunmen are not Russian citizens.
The Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility in a brief statement. On Saturday, they released a picture that showed the four masked people they claimed were the attackers. President Putin remarked that the attackers were reportedly heading towards Ukraine. However, Kyiv has denied any involvement in or connection to the attack.
More details about the incident are to come soon. You can see the footage down below.
