In a new conversation with Guitar World, Richie Sambora addressed fans who believed his career ended when he left Bon Jovi.
The guitarist explained that he continued with his solo career after parting ways with Bon Jovi:
“People think I stopped working since I left Bon Jovi, but I went right back to work on solo records and the music I did with [ex-girlfriend Orianthi]. I look at myself as a new artist. Now, other people might not — they relate to me for what I’ve done, and I love what I did with Bon Jovi. I’m not ever saying anything bad about that because we did a bunch of damage in this world, and we had a great time. But right now, it’s a new game.”
Sambora’s Recent Musical Efforts
Recently, Sambora has released several new singles, including ‘I Pray,’ ‘Livin’ Alone,’ ‘Songs That Wrote My Life,’ and ‘Believe (In Miracles).’ After releasing ‘I Pray,’ the musician said in a statement:
“I’m at that point in my life where I am truly happy and a big part of that joy comes from writing songs and making music. There’s a tremendous freedom with these songs because I don’t have to think about charting No. 1 or what’s happening on the radio but I still put the same craftsmanship, care and love into it as I did with ‘Slippery When Wet’ or ‘New Jersey’ and I hope they bring a similar happiness to those that choose to listen and push play on streaming services.”
Sambora’s last solo album, ‘Aftermath of the Lowdown,’ was released in 2012. He also made an album called ‘Radio Free America’ with Australian guitarist Orianthi in 2018. He teased his new single on Instagram on April 23.
