Richie Sambora claimed that Bon Jovi didn’t want him in the recent Bon Jovi documentary, ‘Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.’
When Mitch Lafon shared a video on X where the guitarist said the documentary wasn’t his perspective, a user on the platform left a comment:
“The documentary is brilliant. Yes, it’s Jon’s perspective, but you were asked to join and be a part of it and tell your side of the story. Richie becomes more and more the Ace Frehley of Bon Jovi.”
Sambora added:
“Hey I like Ace man, that ain’t fair. I said I’d go back. You got played. They didn’t want me. My perspective ended up on the cutting room floor by guess who? Who payed for it?”
Richie’s Earlier Words On The Documentary
This tweet came after the musician’s recent statements to the Associated Press. In the interview, Richie revealed he wasn’t involved in the band’s recent documentary:
“I had nothing to do with it really, except I work there but it wasn’t my perspective. It was one person’s perspective.”
Sambora then explained how he celebrated the band’s 40th anniversary in his own way:
“To me, the celebration of 40 years would have been how the songs affected the whole world because we did a pretty good job after doing it. We worked very hard. And the songs really got to people and communicated all over the world.”
The rocker appeared publicly for the first time on May 11 since the documentary aired. He performed at the 11th Annual Unbridled Eve Kentucky Derby Gala and spoke to People magazine afterward. Sambora felt the series focused more on Jon Bon Jovi’s story than his own. His representative also commented, saying Sambora disliked how he was portrayed and his departure from the band.
