Following the shocking move by Paramount to shut down its TV studio arm, Paramount Television Studios (PTVS), many fans have been left wondering, and worrying, about what this could mean for their favorite shows. The closure comes as part of Paramount Global’s restructuring plan, which sadly includes major layoffs (via Deadline), and could affect such shows as Time Bandits, The Spiderwick Chronicles, the upcoming Cross and, most concerning of all, Reacher.
Starring Alan Ritchson as the former U.S. Army military police officer turned nomad avenger, Reacher is a co-production between Paramount, Amazon and Skydance, with many fans now wondering how these major changes behind the scenes might affect the show. Fans of TV shows from across the brand have since taken to social media to share their concerns, both about the future of Reacher and about the state of the industry…
Thankfully, for Reacher fans at least, the show has been a huge success since it debuted in 2022, becoming the number one series on the streaming platform Prime Video for 2023. So, it’s likely that, for now anyway, the project will be prioritized as PTVS shows are folded into CBS Studios. However, there is still a strong possibility that things will change behind the scenes. Which, in turn, could lead to changes in the creative approach to the show and release timelines, potentially affecting future seasons.
Reacher Will Return for a Third Season in 2025
The first season of Reacher introduces Alan Ritchson as the title character, a former U.S. Army Military Police Major now living as a nomad who suddenly finds himself dragged back into action when he is arrested for murder. Based on the novels of Lee Child, the second season landed last year (before concluding earlier this year) and finds the man-mountain on another mission after members of his old military unit start turning up dead.
A third season is now in the works, and it has since been revealed that the next Jack Racher adventure will be based on the seventh book in the series, “Persuader,” which finds the character going undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past.

Anthony Michael Hall breaks down his antagonistic character coming to Reacher Season 3, while heaping praise on co-star Alan Ritchson.
Alan Ritchson will, of course, return to lead the series, with Season 3 all set to add several intriguing new characters to the roster, including several villains that will rival Reacher’s size and strength. One such villain is Paulie, who it has now been confirmed will be played by Black Widow and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny star Olivier Richters, aka “The Dutch Giant.” Which should provide for some gripping action as the two titans slug it out.
