During a new chat with Fox 26 reporter Ruben Dominguez and Margot Hogan, Rachel Bolan opened up about their decision to choose Lzzy Hale over Sebastian Bach as their new singer for the upcoming shows.
The bassist explained why Hale is the perfect fit for Skid Row at these four shows:
“Lzzy, she is her own person. We asked her not for any other reason than how good she is and how powerful she is and how much she means to people. And I’ve gotta be completely honest. I knew this was gonna get attention, but I didn’t know people were gonna be snapping out.”
Hale Wanted To Help Skid Row
He went on to talk about their influence on the Halestorm singer:
“And it’s making me, like, ‘Wow, my mind is completely blown.’ It’s a matter of a friend coming in to help friends. And even though we came out before and may have influenced her with stuff, she’s helping us a lot, a lot in a situation we’re in, and it is becoming something bigger than both of us.”
Bolan also revealed Lzzy’s reaction to their gig:
“And I’m using her words. She’s, like, this has become really bigger than the both of us. And so everyone is really excited — her team is excited, Skid Row team is excited. The fans are just losing their minds. And I can’t wait. I just wanna get into rehearsal, man. I just cannot wait to hear her sing these songs. And I think what we’re gonna put forth together is something really, really special that people are gonna dig.”
What Does Lzzy Think About Joining Skid Row?
Hale will sing for Skid Row at four shows. This comes after their fourth singer, Erik Grönwall, left to focus on his health. Later, in an interview with Loudwire, Lzzy said she hadn’t faced any hate or negativity after the announcement. She wanted to offer her help after Erik’s situation. The rocker stated:
“In my turn, I’m like, ‘Hey man you need some dates, I care about you guys so let me lend my voice and what I can to this.’ With all of the feedback, you’re incredibly right because I haven’t heard one negative comment. It’s just giving everybody a reason to smile and that’s what it’s all about. I don’t know, we’ve been talking about it [saying] ‘This is bigger than us doing some gigs.’ It’s amazing and what a beautiful thing to be a part of.”
Following the news of Hale joining Skid Row, Sebastian Bach unfollowed her on Instagram. When asked about his reaction in a chat with Screamer Magazine last month, Bach replied that after nine replacements, he didn’t want to read about the tenth. He felt bothered by people acting like the band was theirs when he had invested so much in it.
